What makes multiculturalism in museums more than just cultural diversity? And how can museums become spaces for multicultural understanding? While cultural diversity recognizes the existence of different cultures, multiculturalism actively ensures the respect and inclusion of these cultures within any shared environment. In museums, this approach transforms exhibits into places where the unique stories of different communities are equally represented and valued, Museums should become spaces for cultural exchange so that people could get to know one another, which brings in the value of our shared humanity.

My very multidisciplinary work experience with diverse communities in different regions and cultures has shown me how important it is for people to see themselves represented, respected, and understood. That is why multiculturalism as a concept has always been part of anything I do, and part of my faith, as I believe in its powerful ability to create an impact. In museums, multiculturalism is about creating spaces where every culture is valued. When museums truly reflect the world’s diversity, they help us recognize our shared values while respecting our differences. Through multiculturalism, museums can become magical tools for real social change.
